How can Osteopathy help you?

Osteopaths are primary health care practitioners who are trained to recognise conditions that may be more complex than initially considered which may require a referral or progression to other health professionals or specialists.

They are trained to perform specific examinations of musculoskeletal, neuromusculoskeletal, respiratory, cardiovascular, endocrine and nervous systems.

Using skilled evaluation, diagnosis and a wide range of hands-on techniques, such as soft tissue manipulation, myofascial release, muscle energy technique (MET), joint articulation, joint mobilisation and if needed, high velocity low amplitude (HVLA).

In Australia, osteopaths are government registered practitioners who complete an in-depth, specific university/master’s degree in anatomy, functional anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, general healthcare diagnosis, osteopathic techniques, philosophy and methodology.

Dr. Jamie Bennett, Dr. Jade Bennett, Dr. Estelle Leonard & Dr. Andrew Fyffe are fully qualified, registered and insured osteopaths, as well as a members of the Osteopathy Board AustraliaOsteopathy Australia, and the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

Medicare & Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA)

Our osteopaths are registered to provide services for patients referred by their GP under the Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Program and Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plans and also to DVA cardholders. A valid referral from your GP must be presented on your initial consultation. EPC & CDM treatments will require full payment at the time of service, and the Medicare rebate can be processed on the spot.

Health Fund Providers

No referral is required. Our services are covered by most major private health funds. We advise you confirm with your health fund provider prior to booking your consultation. On the spot rebates are available through our HICAPS machine by using your membership card. The subsequent gap must be paid at the time of service.

National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS)

Patients who manage their own NDIS claims may be eligible to apply for osteopathic treatment as part of their treatment plan, in line with the NDIS regulations. Please contact us if you would like to make a booking under your NDIS plan.

Byron Central Osteopathy welcomes all patients who are covered by the State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA). It must be noted, however, that if a claim is not accepted, the patient is responsible for settling the account promptly.
